Today, the 5th of June, we celebrate World Environment Day and at Garden Hotels we are pleased to announce our participation in the CSR Good Practice Guide. This is an initiative started by the Majorcan Hotel Business Federation (FEHM) which with the phrase “KNOW, ACT, TRANSFORM” aims to support the companies associated with the FEHM in their journey through training and transformation in Corporate Social Responsibility. 

In line with this, Garden Hotels confirms its commitment to the Environmental Management Plan that we have in place at our establishments and also to the development and implementation of new initiatives and responsible actions, such as the evolution of our BioCorner organic buffet, a corner of the buffet that has been redesigned for 2019 where only 100% organic produce is offered, much of it seasonal and km0. And one of the most innovative projects this year at Garden Hotels is the creation of the Woogi Nature entertainment programme, based around nature and the 4 elements, which will start to be rolled out now in June at the Playa Garden Selection Hotel & Spa, and then progressively in all the other hotels. 

As well as the CSR Good Practice Guide there are several other initiatives already in place such as the elimination of single-use plastics, the use of local and organic produce, the substitution of chemical products, biodiversity protection, dual training programmes, energy efficiency systems, etc. The guide also contains recommendations for environmental sustainability where projects including the composting of organic material are explained, developed at the Playa Garden Selection in 2016, the importance of efficient recycling, the responsible use of water, sustainable mobility to reduce emissions, etc.

All these initiatives have a common objective and that is that the hotel businesses and their partners agree that the more responsible and sustainable practices in use, the better.  Noting the positive results and improving their business and communication with the rest of society.   Without doubt, and the FEHM is firmly convinced of this, “this is the way to go, and there's no looking back. And so, every one of the participants, in as far as they are able, will declare and demonstrate their commitment to the area and society.”

This guide has been edited in both traditional and digital formats and has been sent to each participating establishment so that the “KNOW, ACT, TRANSFORM” slogan is to hand. Know the practices that the hotel sector is developing in the CSR field and the level of implementation within the company policies. Act and encourage decision-making that contributes to responsible evolution of the business. We are pursuing constant improvement.  Transform and support a more responsible and sustainable tourism in Majorca.
