What is the taste of Majorca in Autumn?

The flavours of a terrace in the sun, a little bit wine with the sea in the background, that warm feeling when you wrap a blanket around yourself… Majorca in Autumn is filled with changing colours. Colours with shades that bring a different personality to life on the island that many are not used to seeing. Autumn means culture, shows, mountain walks, sports, car trips through the villages… And most importantly food. Lots of food. Because autumn is the perfect season to discover the delicious typical cuisine of Majorca, at Garden Hotels we have prepared a complete range of succulent dishes for you to try during your trip. Let’s head over to the dining table!

Vermouth to start… 

One thing is clear. A good meal cannot start without a good vermouth. So we propose some appetisers to tempt the taste buds before the main courses. For example, a piece of the delicious Coca de Trampó, a Majorcan symbol of excellence consisting of a base, red and green peppers, tomatoes, onion and olive oil and salt. We also recommend other delicacies such as tumbet, a combination of seasonal vegetables, and the ‘frito mallorquín’, of which the main ingredient is lean pork or lamb.

Mains

If you prefer to eat with a spoon, then you definitely have to try arrós brut, a rice cooked in broth at a low heat in the form of a casserole with meat, sausages, vegetables, spices and mushrooms. Or the delicious Majorcan soups, a broth made with seasonal vegetables featuring thin slices of bread.

Although you may prefer the intense flavours of roasted suckling pig, one of Majorca’s star dishes that is a regular on the island, especially at special celebrations. And what would you say to a serving of snails? We know that it’s a dish that doesn’t take everyone’s fancy, but we strongly recommend that you give this marine delicacy a chance, when served with potatoes and soup.

And for dessert… 

Majorca is as sweet as its desserts! And we have a good list to recommend you: ensaimadas (of all flavours and sizes), coca de patata, coca de cuarto, cremadillos, almond cake, cardenal de Lloseta… all very worthy of a try!
