For that reason, we want you to help us with our eco-friendly philosophy, in order for you to continue to fall in love with our incredible surroundings that leave our guests speechless thanks to its unique and natural charm. Overall, we want to raise awareness of the importance of looking after our surrounding ecosystem.
One of the fundamental pillars of Garden Hotels is the environment. For this reason, we always provide our guests with the opportunity to use local produce, free of chemicals, that have been grown locally to help reinforce the regional production in the places that our hotels can be found. For example in our Playa Garden Selection Hotel & Spa, a hotel in Playa de Muro, Majorca, that mixes a unique setting with a wide range of services. Here you can find a delicious organic buffet with the typical cuisine of Majorca and free range lamb, the leading dish served at this hotel thanks to our collaboration with the Asociación de Agricultores Ecológicos de Mallorca (Ecological Farmers Association of Majorca).
We have also put in place a trial project at out accommodation of creating compost with the organic waste that is generated in our hotels throughout the year. The objective of the test was to reach the necessary amount of product to fertilise the land in Majorca and allow it to recover, due to the risk of desertification that has become problematic in the whole Spain in recent years. The result was 91,304 kilos of compost, which made Garden Hotels become one of the frontrunners in turning its organic waste into compost. Furthermore, starting this year we have distributed refillable bottles amongst our employees to reduce the plastic use at our hotels.
Our environmental commitments know of no limits. We take care of the environment around all of our accommodation such as the beautiful Playa de Muro, where we arrange clean-up operations once a year. Another thing that we have added this year has been the allotment at Garden Holiday Village where we have started to grow produce that is served at the buffet, following the sustainable food process that we always promote at our hotels.
All of our dedication has been recognised by the FITUR, TUI and Travelife Gold communities, awarding us with different prizes in relation to the work that we have done towards the environment and health. In fact, this year our Alcudia Garden Aparthotel, Palm Garden Apartamentos y Beach Garden Apartments have received the Travelife certificate for the next two years.
