The Garden Hotels-Luxcom Challenge Ciclista Mallorca 2025 came to an end this Sunday, 2 February, rounding off a week of thrills and challenges for both the cyclists and the fans.
During their time in Mallorca, the teams stayed at the Playa Garden Selection Hotel & Spa and Alcudia Garden Aparthotel, where they were welcomed with the signature hospitality of Garden Hotels. Our staff worked meticulously to ensure that every detail lived up to the expectations of these elite athletes, providing areas for rest and recuperation, as well as personalised menus for a pleasant stay.
Thanks to their prime location next to the sea and just a short distance from the mountains of Mallorca, these hotels have become the perfect environment for the cyclists to train, enjoy the scenery and prepare themselves thoroughly for the great challenge of the competition.
During the Race: Development and key moments
Women’s Mallorca Challenge (from 25 to 27 January 2025)
- Marratxí-Felanitx Trophy: Finland’s Lotta Henttala (EF Education-Oatly) took victory in the first Women’s Challenge trophy, winning in a thrilling sprint finish. She beat the Italian Chiara Consonni (Canyon-SRAM Zondacrypto) and the Canadian Maggie Coles-Lyster (Human Powered Health), after completing a 129.1 km route between Marratxí and Felanitx.
- Palma-Castell de Bellver Trophy: The Swiss cyclist Marlen Reusser (Movistar Team) conquered the finish line at the Castell de Bellver after a great performance. On the final climb, she left behind Mallorcan rider Mavi García (Spanish National team), who fell short of victory for the second year in a row. The 129 km race was marked by a large breakaway of 14 riders who were neutralised in the second half of the course.
- Binissalem-Port d’Andratx Trophy: Thalita De Jong (Human Powered Health) won the final day of the women’s Challenge. The race ended on the demanding Mon Port ramps, where the Dutch rider was the strongest and crossed the finish line alone, 14 seconds ahead of Italy’s Silvia Persico (UAE) and 15 seconds ahead of France’s Cedrine Kerbaol (EF Education).
Challenge Mallorca Men (from 29 January to 2 February 2025)
- Ses Salines-Colònia de Sant Jordi Trophy: The Dutch cyclist Marijn Van den Berg (EF Education) won the second race of the XXXIV Garden Hotels-Luxcom Challenge Ciclista Mallorca, with a route that started in Ses Salines and finished in Colònia de Sant Jordi. Van den Berg showed his great sprinting ability and won a spectacular finish, beating Anthony Turgis (Total Energies) and Erlend Blikra (UnoXMobility) to the finish line.
- Serra de Tramuntana Trophy: On a gloomy day marked by rain and cold, the German cyclist Florian Stork (Tudor) won the third round of the XXXIV Garden Hotels- Luxcom Challenge Ciclista a Mallorca, finishing in Selva. With two kilometres to go, Stork launched a decisive attack from a leading group of eleven riders, winning alone with a time of 3h16’48”.
- Andratx-Pollença Trophy: Due to adverse weather conditions and several crashes, this stage was cancelled after 23 kilometres, prioritising the safety of the riders.
- Palma Trophy: With a vibrant finish in the Mallorcan capital, the cyclists had an exciting day, both starting and finishing in front of Palma Cathedral. Portugal’s Juri Leitao (Caja Rural-RGA) surprised the teams with his sprint, by attacking one kilometre from the finish line, taking a solo victory with a time of 3h08’40”.
In addition, Garden Hotels was honoured to offer fans the Garden Hotels VIP Lounge Challenge at the finish line. This exclusive space provided queue-free access, photocall, live broadcasting on screens, privileged views from the finish line, and also a brunch and drinks bar, ensuring an exclusive experience for all attendees.
