Melchior, Gaspar and Balthasar! How exciting, you can already see them in the distance! Their Majesties from the East arrive laden with gifts, dreams and good wishes. Children’s hopes and dreams guide them on their long journey. And when they arrive, a plate of biscuits and a warm glass of milk awaits them under the Christmas tree. Don’t forget! Warm up on cold January nights! The fascinating Three Wise Men parade returns to Palma and the Balearic Islands in 2024, wrapped in a halo of dreamlike enchantment.
This New Year’s Eve you won’t forget your date with magic on the 5th of January, Three Kings Day: in Palma it will be in the Moll Vell, starting at 6 pm. Once Their Majesties from the East disembark, a spectacular tour of the streets of Ciutat will begin, full of surprises, spectacle and sparkle. Fantasy, circus performances and music surprise visitors and locals once again this year, along with marvellous floats that will parade through the centre of the Mallorcan capital. Thousands of people follow attentively, year after year, the traditional route that crosses the Avenidas, Paseo del Borne, Plaza del Rey Juan Carlos I, La Rambla, Vía Roma, Paseo Mallorca, Avenida Jaime III and returns to where it started, Plaza de las Tortugas. The faces of the little ones – and we must confess, the not so little ones – light up as the hundreds of unique characters that make up the procession pass by: dancers, singers, acrobats, fire-eaters, clowns, skaters, giants… who parade to the rhythm of the charanga, brass bands, xeremiers, batucadas and live performances from a fantastic world of incredible beings and infinite imagination.
The most desired Three Wise Men 2024 arrive in Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera
Palma’s parade is the most popular, but Their Majesties from the East do not miss their appointment with the children of the rest of the island’s towns and villages, which are decked out to welcome such an eagerly awaited and prestigious visit: In Sóller, the Three Wise Men and their pages are received at mid-morning in the Port; in Alcúdia, Their Majesties treat all those who brave the cold to welcome them with a comforting shower of toffees and sweets; in Campanet, they make their appearance on the backs of elegant horses, along with a large retinue of pages and floats like the Royal retinue; in Inca, the parade starts in the afternoon from the parish of Crist Rei to go through the town and arrive at the church of Santa Maria la Major. On the Pityusic Islands, Ibiza and Formentera, and on the island of Menorca, the Three Wise Men also reach the coasts, and they don’t do so empty-handed; they arrive at the Ses Figueretes quay in Ibiza at 6:30 pm, and you can follow in their wake as they pass through Sant Antoni, Santa Eulària, Sant Josep and Sant Joan; on Formentera, you’ll find them from 5 pm onwards at the Far de la Mola.
Hundreds of Menorcans are eagerly awaiting them in the port of Maó from 6 p.m. onwards to spot the kilos of sweets they are sure to be carrying. Last year there were no less than 600 kilos! It won’t surprise you if we tell you that not a single one was left to handed out. Ciutadella, Alaior, Es Mercadal and Fornells also join in the joyful celebrations on the most magical day of the year.
