Did you know that at Garden Hotels we strive to look after our environment as much as we look after you? At Garden Hotels we firmly believe that the environment is something that we need to respect and protect 100% and so for the last 20 years we have been, and continue to be, totally committed to our EcoGarden philosophy which has is based upon 360º environmental consciousness and involves our staff, suppliers and, of course, you, our guest.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) revolves around Responsible Tourism, the kind we want to promote amongst everyone that forms part of Garden Hotels in some capacity. This solid commitment is based upon three fundamental pillars: social sustainability, economic sustainability and the sustainability of the environment.
Only in this way, by realising the importance of protecting the eco-systems that surround us, can we continue to enjoy the magnificent scenery that is the backdrop to our establishments in Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Andalucía.
We at Garden Hotels have been serving local (km 0) and seasonal produce to our guests for over 5 years now, grown locally and, as a result, we are supporting local communities and helping to encourage the cultivation of local produce. At the same time, we support organic farming in the Balearic Islands by purchasing our fruit and vegetables from different Mallorcan farming cooperatives (APAEMA and Sa Teulera). We buy around 34,176kg of locally produced vegetables in Mallorca and some 56,348kg of local fruit, all then presented to our guests at the organic buffets at our hotels.
A good example is the organic buffet at the Playa Garden Selection Hotel & Spa in Playa de Muro where you can enjoy the best Mallorcan dishes, prepared with local ingredients, grown without the use of chemicals and with great respect for the environment. Our star dish is, without doubt, the organic lamb, and we serve approximately 2,782kg of this delicious meat every season (figures from 2019).
Amongst the many other ways that we support the local community and groups of interest, we work hand-in-hand with Amadip Esment, a local not-for-profit organisation that promotes social integration. We also organise beach clean-up days to raise awareness of the importance of respecting the natural environment.
In regard to social projects, we continue to strengthen our ties with several organisations and social campaigns such as Cruz Roja (Red Cross), Sonrisa Médica, Aspanob, Fundació Deixalles, Cáritas, Acción Contra el Hambre (Action against Hunger), etc.
And, by working together, we are able to manage resources such as energy and water, implementing criteria and controls that optimise consumption and prevent waste, and we are also fully committed to the No Plastic strategy, eliminating single-use plastics and replacing them with more sustainable alternatives.
Every Garden Hotels establishment employs a waste management and separation system, and we use analytic tools to calculate the volume of recycled and/or reused waste products, according to type.
You can access further information about all the projects we are involved in relating to quality assurance, equality and human rights, health and safety etc. on our website. We want to take care of you and your loved ones, and, above all, we want you to enjoy an unforgettable holiday in unique surroundings that are protected and well looked after. Together, we can make this world a more sustainable one.
