Uncommon actions, from a different kind of company.
Garden Not Common is our programme of uncommon actions. It gives a name to our most remarkable initiatives in the field of sustainable tourism, which we have been implementing at Garden Hotels since virtually day one. Since that time, back in 1986, we have established solid values based on innovation, hospitality, commitment, enthusiasm, trust, quality and, of course, sustainability. We were pioneers in the field of the circular economy almost without knowing it, putting into practice certain actions designed to take care of our environment and our people.
We are creation, we are change and we are transformation. We like to think that circular economy and respect for our destinations are part of our nature. Throughout our history, we have designed and implemented projects and policies around environmental, economic and social sustainability, which have positioned us as a benchmark in this field at international level. Although we’re only small, we like to think big, and this isn’t just something we say ourselves, it has been confirmed by the different official recognitions we have received in recent years:
- Our composting plant was recognised as one of the 100 best business ideas of the year by Actualidad Económica (El Mundo) in 2022.
- We’re the first hotel chain to receive AENOR Circular Economy Strategy certification at international level.
- We received the award for the best sustainable tourism project at the Tourism Innovation Summit in 2021.
- Innobankia Awards 2019, for best sustainable company, recognising excellence in the development of pioneering sustainable actions, such as our project to produce compost from organic waste generated at the hotel.
- Rethink Hotel Awards 2018, awarded to the 10 best sustainability and hotel refurbishment projects in Spain.
- Tourism Award 2017, awarded by the Tourism Agency of the Balearic Islands for our composting and circular economy project.
Our efforts to establish a circular model in our operations, as well as to contribute to the fight against climate change, the development of the local economy and/or the revitalisation of organic and km 0 agriculture, are aimed at achieving a circulation of resources, improving the quality of the environment and the sustainable development of the tourism sector.
Every little detail counts, and this is what we stand for. We work on a long list of genuine actions with real and direct impact every day.
