On 20 September, International Paella Day was celebrated all over the world, a date that pays tribute to one of the most iconic dishes of Spanish gastronomy. And at Garden Hotels, we could not miss the opportunity to join this special commemoration.
This year, we designed a unique experience for our guests as part of our Garden Experience entertainment programme: Garden Chef Experience. What better way to celebrate International Paella Day than learning how to cook it with our chefs?
Garden Chef Experience is an activity that took place on this day in all our hotels where you can put on your apron, get to know first-hand the fresh and local ingredients used in the preparation of paella and learn the secrets to preparing it like a true master. Guided by our chefs, you will not only have fun cooking, but you will also discover the techniques, tricks and flavours that make paella one of the most internationally appreciated dishes.
From the sofrito with tomato and garlic, to the moment the rice and broth are added, each step is an essential part of achieving the perfect balance of flavours. And, of course, the star ingredient: saffron, which gives paella its characteristic golden colour.
