New year, new challenges for the Garden Hotels Mallorca Volley volleyball team. The girls ended the year with a new name and now compete as Garden Hotels Ágora Calviá, based at the Melani Costa Sports Palace in the Mallorcan municipality. And as we at Garden Hotels are convinced that sport is something we do together, we are truly proud of the support we provide to these Mallorcan volleyball warriors through our sponsorship. Because this is not just a volleyball team but a family whose mission is to take women’s sport and passion to the top.
Another of the most recent changes for the club in its sporting history, which we love being a part of, was the departure of its coach, Andrés Rodríguez. His legacy? Taking Garden Hotels Ágora Calviá to the top of the regular first national league and protecting them from defeat throughout their promotion to Superliga 2. A well-deserved round of applause for him and his successes! At the same time, we welcome Lluis Enric Molada Miró to the team, a very experienced figure in volleyball. We are convinced that his long career in the sport will be an energy boost for our girls.
Return to competition
The return to the regular league after several weeks of changes has been a challenge for the team, which has once again been able to show its strength, something we admire at Garden Hotels. The first match of the second round pitted the Mallorcan team against the Melilla team at the Melani Costa Sports Palace, which was packed with fans eager to enjoy the game. Despite the defeat, the girls showed that they were ready for the next matches, such as the recent Balearic derby at the Poliesportiu Son Angelats in Sóller, the second game of the year.
Precisely in Mallorca, the team had the luxury of receiving some of the island’s most important figures, such as representatives from the Calvià Town Hall and the Consell de Mallorca, with whom they had a relaxed meeting. Yes, none other than the local authorities that support and lead them. Madga Ramis, executive vice-president of Garden Hotels, was also present to reaffirm our chain’s firm commitment to women’s sport through our sponsorship of the team. At Garden Hotels we are sure that this significant show of support will encourage the girls to continue working together for a better future.
