The Sustainable Tourism Tax was approved by the Balearic government in July 2016. This tax is used to fund sustainable projects for responsible tourism.
Guests staying at tourist properties have to pay this tax, as do residents in the Balearic Islands.
The price depends on the star rating of the property. For five-star and four-star superior hotels, it’s between €1 and €4 per day per guest over the age of sixteen (+10% VAT).
For four-star and three-star superior hotels, it’s between €0.75 and €3 per day per guest over the age of sixteen (+10% VAT).
There’s a 75% reduction in low season. If you’re staying for more than 8 days, there’s a 50% discount. Children under the age of 16 are exempt.
We’ll ask you to pay this tax before check-out in order to comply with our obligations with the Balearic Tax Office.
