Summer in Mallorca isn’t just synonymous with sun and beaches; there are celebrations full of tradition and culture, too. One of the most eagerly awaited festivities on the island is the festival of the Patron Saint of Pollença, which attracts thousands of visitors and locals every year thanks to its festive atmosphere and deep historical roots. At Garden Hotels, we’d like to invite you to enjoy this unique experience during your stay on our island.
The festivities of the Patron Saint of Pollença are held in honour of the Virgin of the Angels, and in 2024 they take place from 26th July to 2nd August. They combine religious, cultural and recreational elements, offering a varied programme.
What you shouldn’t miss at the Pollença 2024 festivities
Although the programme for the festivities is extensive and full of activities, there are certain events that the team at Garden Hotels recommend you experience:
Open-Air Concerts: Throughout the week, you can enjoy open-air concerts in different parts of the city, with a variety of musical styles ranging from classical music to rock. On 1st August, don’t miss the Revetla with the groups Xanguito, The Hawaiians and Sidecars.
La Alborada (2nd August, early morning): One of the most emotional moments of the festivities is the Alborada, when the Pollença brass band goes through the streets of the town playing the traditional melody that wakes up the inhabitants and announces the Patron Saint’s big day.
Moors and Christians Mock Battle (2nd August): The most eagerly awaited event is undoubtedly the mock battle between Moors and Christians. This historical re-enactment commemorates the victory of the inhabitants of Pollença over the corsair pirates in 1550. It’s a show full of emotion, drama and local participation.
Taking part in the festivities of the Patron Saint of Pollença is an excellent way to immerse yourself in the local culture and enjoy a different kind of holiday. At Garden Hotels, we’re dedicated to offering you a stay that combines the comfort of our facilities with the cultural richness of Mallorca. That way, you’ll be able to experience unforgettable moments while you soak up the tradition and history of our island. We look forward to seeing you!
