At Garden Hotels we believe in the power of sport as a driving force for equality, effort and perseverance. Recently, we have had the honour of welcoming some of the most outstanding women in international cycling to our hotels, who have shown that talent, discipline and passion know no bounds.
The second edition of the Garden Hotels-Luxcom Mallorca Women’s Cycling Challenge has been a reflection of the growth of women’s cycling and the commitment to give greater visibility to its protagonists. During three intense days of competition, top-level cyclists have ridden along the island’s roads, delivering a spectacle of struggle and strategy on two wheels.
More than a race: an inspiration for all
This Challenge was not only a sporting event, but also a symbol of equality that we want to highlight this 8 March (International Women’s Day). Women cyclists from all over the world have shown their courage in every kilometre, reminding us that the fight for equality in sport is more alive than ever. Among them, the winners Lotta Henttala (Marratxí – Felanitx Trophy), Marlen Reusser (Palma-Castell de Bellver Trophy) and Thalita de Jong (Binissalem-Andratx Trophy) stand out. Each of them has left their mark on the competition, with memorable performances that remind us of the importance of continuing to promote women’s sport.
We do not forget the spirit of perseverance shown by local athletes like the Mallorcan Mavi García (second in the Palma Trophy) and Marina Garau (winner of the special sprints). Two all-rounders who have managed to become a benchmark in cycling thanks to their talent and discipline.
At Garden Hotels, we are proud to have been part of this experience, hosting cyclists, technicians and international press in our hotels. Playa Garden Selection Hotel & Spa and Alcudia Garden Aparthotel, with more than 3,000 stays during the ten days of the women’s and men’s competition.
Furthermore, our commitment to cycling goes beyond this event: we offer tailored facilities, a farm-to-table gastronomic approach for athletes and an ideal environment for training and competing.
Relive the best moments in our special 8 March video on our social networks and join the celebration of all those women who have defied limits and shown that talent knows no gender.
