Caring for our planet, our environment, our visitors, and for the professionals who look after you in our hotels, is the foundation of our philosophy and we want to share it with you.
At Garden Hotels, we care for our land and our community every day as part of our daily routine. Today, World Oceans Day, it is important to stress the need to protect this precious resource as it is vital for human existence, covering 70% of the planet. Water is our life source, producing at least 50% of the Earth’s oxygen and having the greatest part of its biodiversity. At Garden Hotels, we do our utmost to protect this natural treasure and we are aware of the importance of raising awareness, not just on a day like today, so that everyone can play their part in protecting the planet. The United Nations has warned that 90% of the large sea fish species have seen their numbers reduced in recent years and that up to 50% of the coral reefs have been decimated: this alarming fact makes it clear that we are taking more from the oceans than we can replace.
Garden Hotels has maintained a firm commitment to sustainability and protecting the environment since its inception; our establishments provide delicious km0 products at the buffet restaurants, we promote and support organic farming and local produce, and we strive to increase the visibility of good practice and actions that benefit the rest of society and transmit our desire to protect and care for the environment.
Green Garden Aparthotel, for a more sustainable future.
You may be unaware that the Green Garden Aparthotel is the only hotel in our chain that holds the prestigious EMAS certificate. This is a regulated Eco-management and Audit Scheme run by the EU, requiring the highest standards in environmental management. Its standards are so exacting that only 34 organisations in the Balearic Islands have received this certificate, with the Green Garden Aparthotel being one of them.
This week, Garden Hotels wants to talk a little more, if possible, about caring for the environment. We already spoke about it on Monday, World Environment Day, at the Playa Garden Selection Hotel & Spa where we organised a beach clean-up in Playa de Muro, and at the Green Garden Aparthotel, which celebrated the day with a series of ‘Eco challenge’ activities from EMAS which are included in Woogi Nature, our children’s activity programme based on the four natural elements. Would you like to know more about them?
For us, creating awareness of the environment from childhood is fundamental to sowing the seeds of a more sustainable future. And what better way to do it than with our friend Woogi and his Eco-challenge activities which teach the kids how important it is to recycle and to keep rivers, seas, and oceans clean. Plus, as pioneers in circular economy, we want the children to learn and have fun making compost and seeing first-hand how the circular economy works with our My Eco Garden activity.
