We are very happy to receive a new award for our efforts and philosophy focused on environmental protection and sustainability. We were most excited to receive it at the 19th Congress of Spanish Hoteliers, which took place in Palma between 22 and 24 November and which brought together representatives of the tourism sector from all over Spain to analyse the sector’s present and future.
At Garden Hotels we are very grateful to Fundación Intermundial, Tourism&Law and the Spanish Confederation of Hotels (CEHAT) which, together with the Hotel Business Federation of Mallorca (FEHM), were the organisers of the 19th Congress of Spanish Hoteliers, and presented us with this award for our strategy in circular economy and sustainability.
Thanks very much! Also to our great professional team, as all this would not be possible without the effort, loyalty and commitment of the great family that makes up Garden Hotels. And of course, millions of thanks to you, our customers, who every day bring a big smile to our faces and drive us on so we keep working in a dedicated and enthusiastic way at what we are most passionate about in the world: designing your best holidays.
How do we at Garden Hotels care for our environment?
Pioneers in the circular economy since our origins in 1986, our philosophy of caring for our environment and the people who are responsible for protecting it is based on sustainable actions, such as those described below:
- We make conscious purchases that take into account environmental and social criteria.
- We give 100% support to local and organic products, such as, for example, the D. O. ME ecològic de Mallorca. In fact, we are the only Balearic hotel chain that consumes this product.
- We emphasise the circular supply of returnable amenities made of local and organic ingredients from the Mallorcan company Flor d’Ametler to all our hotels in Mallorca and Menorca.
- We reuse organic waste from the kitchens and restaurants of our establishments to generate compost suitable for organic farming in collaboration with Sa Teulera.
- Our buffet offers exclusively organic and mostly local products.
- Our entertainment programme for all our hotels has sustainability as a cross-cutting theme.
- We are committed to the education sector through the Circular FP innovation project to include the circular economy in the curriculum of vocational training studies.
- We believe in a regenerative model, capable of restoring the health of the ecosystems in which we exist.
