British cyclist Ethan Vernon, member of the Soudal Quick-Step team, has been proclaimed winner of the Palma Trophy this Sunday, the fifth and last race in the Garden Hotels-Luxcom Cycle Challenge Mallorca 2023. This race has worldwide repercussion; it has been followed by fans of the sport all over the world on Eurosport, and on the Teledeporte channel from TVE in Spain, after more than a decade without any live transmission.
British cyclist Ethan Vernon has been proclaimed winner of the Palma Trophy of the Cycle Challenge Mallorca 2023 after completing the 141,6 kilometre urban and road race in a time of 3 hours, 17 minutes and 58 seconds. The race, which took place on Sunday the 29th of January, was the final stage of the XXXII Cycle Challenge Mallorca which fans have been able to follow live, after more than a decade without live transmission, between the 25th and 29th of January 2023 on the island, with the resulting worldwide reach.
23 teams competed in the Cycle Challenge Mallorca 2023, 8 of them from the World Tour. It’s been five days of competition that has attracted athletes from around the world to this beautiful island with its spectacular scenery and welcoming environment, to be enjoyed whilst pedalling along the many varied roads across the island.
The winners of the different races that took place were: Portuguese cyclist Rui Alberto Costa (Intermarché-Circus-Wanty), Calviá Trophy; Dutch cyclist Marijn Van Den Berg (EF Education-EasyPost), Ses Salines-Alcúdia Trophy; Belgian Kobe Goosens (Intermarché-Circus-Wanty), Andratx-Mirador des Colomer Trophy and the Tramuntana Trophy, and British cyclist Ethan Vernon (Soudal Quick-Step), won the Palma Trophy.
