On the 9th of September, two celebrations coincide that we, at Garden Hotels, do not wish to overlook: World Agriculture Day and World Electric Vehicle Day. As a hotel chain that strives daily to be a benchmark in sustainability, for us these two commemorations are an opportunity to reflect on how our actions contribute to a greener future. At Garden Hotels, we are committed to protecting the environment through various initiatives, and today we want to highlight how we align ourselves with these two important days.
Promoting organic farming
Having sustainability at the heart of our operations includes a strong commitment to organic farming. That is why we support environmentally friendly agricultural practices, minimising the use of pesticides and promoting the cultivation of local and organic produce.
In some of our hotels, we have created the BioCorner following the Slow Food philosophy, where we offer 100% organic dishes and products. This way, you can enjoy seasonal and local ingredients, such as the delicious “Caldereta de cordero ecológico mallorquín” (organic Mallorcan lamb stew). In addition, in some of our hotels you will find dishes labelled as “km 0” and products with the 100% Bio label, promoting the circular economy and local sustainability.
To close the circle, we are proud to be the first hotel chain to carry out the project to convert the hotel’s organic waste into quality, ecological compost. By giving it to farmers, we are supporting the primary sector of our destinations.
Today, on Agriculture Day, we have taken the opportunity to implement these sustainable actions in our hotels. Starting with an activity in which organic compost jars will be made and seeds will be planted as an entertaining activity and ending with a tour and a visit to the hotel’s organic garden.
Promoting sustainable mobility
On Electric Mobility Day, we also want to reflect on the importance of reducing CO2 emissions. We, in particular, develop campaigns such as #ElijoSerResponsable, in which our employees set an example of the commitment to sustainability that we pursue as a hotel chain.
