The Hotel Technological Institute (ITH) has celebrated its 20th anniversary by awarding prizes to the main players in the tourism sector and at Garden Hotels we are celebrating! We are very proud to announce that we have received the Sustainable Hotel Company award. A recognition that was collected by our Development Manager, Miquel Ramis Munar, and that serves as a new testimony of our commitment to sustainability.
The Royal Spanish Academy dictionary says that something sustainable is something “that can be maintained for a long period of time without depleting resources or causing serious damage to the environment.” This was precisely the commitment we made decades ago, when few believed in it. A philosophy that not only benefits the hotel industry, but also serves as an inspiration for other sectors and… hopefully also for our guests!
Because at Garden Hotels, we firmly believe in sustainable practices and the results are proof that following this way of seeing the world brings great joy and recognition. We encourage all sectors to adopt more sustainable strategies, as the benefits for the environment and society are immense. From implementing solar energy systems to cleaning up beaches, we are working every day to create a greener future.
The evolution of sustainability in the tourism sector
The tourism sector has come a long way in terms of sustainability. What began as small, isolated initiatives has now become a mainstay of the industry. The ITH awards, which include a specific category for sustainability, reflect how this practice has become standardised and a priority.
Without a doubt, we have proven that every step counts and this award is a great honour that encourages us to continue working with more passion and dedication towards a sustainable tourism model. Thank you for being part of this journey with us!
